Privacy Policy
Last updated: June 29, 2026
WearWise ("we", "our", "the app") is built by Aaryan Shah. This policy explains what data we collect, why, and how we protect it. We keep things simple: we collect only what's needed to make the app work, and we don't sell your data to anyone.
1. What we collect
Account information
- Email address and display name (when you sign up with email/password)
- Name and profile picture URL (when you sign in with Google or Apple — only what those providers share with us)
Wardrobe data
- Clothing item names, categories, colors, brands, and notes you enter
- Photos you take or upload of clothing items
- Outfit combinations and planned outfits you save
- Shared wardrobe membership and items you add to shared wardrobes
- Borrow requests you send or receive
Technical data
- Authentication tokens stored in your device's Keychain (used to keep you signed in)
- App settings stored locally on your device (appearance, AI preferences, etc.)
2. How we use your data
- To provide the core app experience: storing your closet, building outfits, sharing wardrobes
- To authenticate you and keep your account secure
- To enable shared wardrobe features between users you invite
- To power AI-assisted clothing analysis (photos are sent to our backend for processing and are not retained after analysis)
We do not use your data for advertising, and we do not sell or share it with third parties for marketing purposes.
3. Third-party services
WearWise uses the following services to operate:
- Supabase — our database, authentication, and file storage provider. Your account data, wardrobe data, and shared item images are stored on Supabase servers. See Supabase's Privacy Policy.
- Google Sign-In — optional. If you sign in with Google, we receive your name and email from Google. See Google's Privacy Policy.
- Apple Sign-In — optional. If you sign in with Apple, we receive the information Apple chooses to share (which may be a private relay email). See Apple's Privacy Policy.
4. Data storage and security
- Your closet data (photos, items, outfits) that you have not shared with others is stored locally on your device using SwiftData, and is never uploaded to our servers unless you use a shared wardrobe feature.
- Shared wardrobe data and account information is stored on Supabase with row-level security — only members of a wardrobe can access its contents.
- Authentication tokens are stored in your device's Keychain and are encrypted by iOS.
- We use HTTPS for all network communication.
5. Data retention
Your data is retained for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account, your account information and shared wardrobe data will be deleted from our servers. Locally stored data (your personal closet) can be deleted by deleting the app from your device.
6. Your rights
You have the right to:
- Access the data we hold about you
- Request correction of inaccurate data
- Request deletion of your account and associated data
- Export your data (wardrobe data can be viewed and managed within the app)
To exercise any of these rights, email us at shah905@purdue.edu.
7. Children's privacy
WearWise is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us and we will delete it.
8. Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of significant changes by updating the "Last updated" date above. Continued use of the app after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
